Danielle Preston is a freelance costume designer based in the Washington DC/ DMV area. Danielle holds a master's degree in Costume Design from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She has worked in various learning centers & institutions including Georgetown University, Sitar Arts Center, Catholic University of America and Bowie State University. Furthermore, she has worked as an assistant costume designer in NYC & DC for designers such as Dede Ayite, Clint Ramos, & Ivania Stack. She has previously taught courses in costume technology, costume design, introduction to theatrical design, and marketing as a designer.
Professional fellowships include Kenan Costume Fellow for the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute Fellowship in Costume Design. Preston is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, Costume Society of America, and The Costume Society UK.
Danielle currently works at the Washington National Opera in Washington DC as a Costume Coordinator for the production Written in Stone, designed by Dede Ayite. Outside of theater, Danielle enjoys traveling abroad studying fashion and art. One most recent trip was a British Costume Collection study tour with Arts University Bournemouth and USITT.

Danielle was listed on DC Metro Theater Arts 2018 Staff Favorites: Outstanding Design Elements for her design for Long Way Down at the Kennedy Center.
